Moving from OS 9 to OS X | ||
If you are planning to run EIMS on OS X, and you are running a version of EIMS older than 3.2, the first thing you should do is upgrade to EIMS 3.2 or later. Once you are running EIMS 3.2 or later, you just need to make sure you have an OS X version of EIMS Server in your EIMS folder. Preferences and file formats are fully compatible between the OS 9, OS X PowerPC, and OS X Intel versions of EIMS. If you ever need to switch between OS 9 and OS X, or PowerPC and Intel, just make sure you run the right version of EIMS Server. You will need to check that any filter plugins you are using are the compatible with the version of EIMS you are running. If you have purchased an upgrade to EIMS 3.3, you will have received upgraders for both OS 9 and OS X. The OS X upgrader will install an OS X version of EIMS Server 3.3 if you select an OS 9 version of EIMS Server to upgrade. If you have the OS 9 version of EIMS 3.2, download the updater below. If you are moving to a different computer which is running OS X, just copy your whole EIMS folder over, make sure you have an OS X version of EIMS Server, and run it. Don't use a DOS formatted (eg: FAT16, FAT32) memory card or hard drive to transfer your copy of EIMS. Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X store Mac files differently on DOS volumes, and this won't work (you will get an error -39). Known issues with OS X can be found here OS X 10.3 or later is required to correctly expand the zip archives.
